City of Marquette Heights City Council met Aug. 14.

CALL TO ORDER
The City Council meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M by Mayor Hamm.
ROLL CALL
Aldermen present for Roll Call: Alderman Joos, Amundson, Neumann, Neuhaus, Babb and Greiner.
Also present were Clerk Steele, Treasurer Harris, Police Chief Merritt, Building Inspector Dearborn, Fire Chief Hermacinski, Attorney Herman, Deputy Clerk Minson, and Deputy Treasurer Reynolds.
Absent: Street Superintendent Hoehn and Water Representative Chet Merritt.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS
Mayor
Mayor Hamm will be out of town the rest of this week. In his absence, Alderman Neumann will be Mayor Pro-tem.
Clerk
No report.
Treasurer
No report.
Attorney
No report.
Building Inspector/ Code Enforce
Building permit on LaSalle Blvd. has expired and will be extended to December 1, 2023.
Communication
The Adkison family sent a “thank you” card for the use of Liberty Hall for the Celebration of Life for her husband.

REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:
Water and Sewer – Alderman Neumann
GA Rich: valve repair at Briarwood work to cut in for brine. As work progressed, more damage was detected.
Law Enforcement – Alderman Amundson
Incident occurred Friday, August 10th. Our squad 22-1 was rear ended at the stop light on Fischer Road in Creve Coeur. Appears the rear hatch will need replaced. Estimate for repairs to come.
Squad 17-2 had a flat and inspection showed another tire is wearing on the inside.
Chief Merritt sends a big Thank You to our Fire Department for assistance with the annual Police & Fire Dept. vs. Kids water balloon fight this past weekend.
Streets – Alderman Joos
Trimming and chipping in ongoing. Georgetown Middle School will have chipping done before school starts.
Public Buildings / Parks – Alderman Neuhaus
Benches for the Dog Park have arrived. The old bench will be taken to the Frisbee area.
Chief Merritt stated he thinks we should close parks when storms cause damage. Discussion was had and agreement to close parks with hanging limbs.
Fire – Alderman Greiner
Fire Truck 311 is back.
Fire Truck 313 needs a new deck gun. Price from McQueen Emergency is $7,871.13.
Planning – Alderman Babb
Will have an Executive Session to discuss sale of commercial properties and setting of price.

CONSENT AGENDA:
1. Approve August 7, 2023, Committee Council Meeting Minutes.
2. Approve August 7, 2023, Committee Council Executive Minutes.
3. Approve Bi-Monthly expenditures in the sum of $125,704.53.
4. Approve amendments to the MH Rec Association contract for use of ball diamonds at Independence Park beginning Jan 2024.
5. Approve MH Rec Association to invest $20,000.00 for Independence Park diamond 1 restoration.
6. Approve the amendments of the ATV/Golf Cart Ordinance.
7. Approve $1,155.96 to Best One for four new tires for the water truck.
8. Approve $2,063.14 to Midwest Business Networking for IT support services, per contract.
9. Approve $7,950.00 to Copperfield Electric for the Chemical room.

APPROVE CONSENT AGENDA:
Alderman Amundson made a motion, seconded by Alderman Greiner to approve the Consent Agenda in its entirety. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Alderman Amundson made a motion to approve new Mayoral Committee appointments. Alderman Greiner seconded motion. Roll Call Vote: Alderman Neuhaus – abstained; Aldermen Neumann, Greiner, Joos, Amundson, and Babb - Ayes. Motion passed.
Tabled motion to approve $2,800.00 to Shawn Norman for 36” and 30” Logan St. door replacements, including brickmold wraps was tabled. Roll Call Vote: all Ayes. Motion to table passed.
Tabled motion to approve $545.00 to Shawn Norman for Pavilion wrap, garage trim board wrap and vented soffit repair was tables. Roll Call Vote: all Ayes. Motion to table passed.
CITIZENS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNTIL
None.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS PERTAINING TO THE CITY.
Due to Graduate program, Alderman Greiner will not be available on Mondays for Council and Committee meetings this semester.
Officer Weseloh will be graduating from the Academy next Friday @ 2pm.
Alderman Neumann made a motion to exit regular Council Meeting and enter Executive Session for the setting of price on property for sale (2C5) and discussing land acquisition (2C6). Alderman Neuhaus seconded. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.
Council exited regular session and entered executive session at 7:29 p.m.
Council resumed regular session at 8:10 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
Alderman Greiner made a motion, seconded by Alderman Babb, to adjourn the regular City Council Meeting at 8:14 p.m. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.
