City of Marquette Heights City Council met Nov. 13.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

CALL TO ORDER

The City Council meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M by Mayor Hamm.

ROLL CALL

Aldermen present for Roll Call: Alderman Babb, Joos, Amundson, Neuhaus and Neumann.

Also present were Clerk Steele, Deputy Treasurer Reynolds, Building Inspector Dearborn, Attorney Herman, Fire Chief Hermacinski, Street Superintendent Smith and Water Superintendent Merritt.

Absent: Alderman Greiner, Office Manager/HR Minson, Police Chief Merritt.

REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS

Mayor

No report from Mayor Hamm.

Clerk

Reminder that Office Manager Minson is out this week and Deputy Treasurer Reynolds is out until Friday.

Treasurer

No report from Deputy Treasurer Reynolds.

Attorney

The resident who had a tree fall on their fence has filed a Small Claims complaint in Tazewell County. IML Risk Management Association has been notified and has assigned Phil O’Donnell to the case.

Building Inspector/ Code Enforce

No report from Inspector Dearborn.

Communication

None.

Citizens Wishing to Address the Council

Tamara _______, 118 Craig Road spoke regarding a 6 foot chain link fence her neighbor had put up. Per our city code, the maximum height for a chain link fence is 5 foot. The neighbor was informed the fence would need to be removed. She stated the fence kept the deer out of her yard, and asked what could be done. She was advised the neighbor could request a variance and have a zoning hearing.

Streets – Alderman Joos

The new dump truck will be ready next Monday or Tuesday.

A project list has been prepared for next year.

Public Buildings / Parks – Alderman Greiner

The doors at Liberty Hall need to be painted. Will get a paint color that matches the trim.

Park restrooms and fountains will be closed after this weekend.

Trim at the pavilion is done and looks great.

Fire – Alderman Greiner

Absent. No report from Alderman Amundson.

Planning – Alderman Babb

No report from Alderman Babb.

CONSENT AGENDA:

1. Approve October 23, 2023, Regular Council Meeting Minutes.

2. Approve October 23, 2023, Executive Minutes.

3. Approve November 6, 2023, Committee Meeting Minutes.

4. Approve November 6, 2023, Executive Minutes.

5. Approve Bi-Monthly expenditures in the sum of $118,162.53.

6. Approve additional $209.29 for annual lift truck inspection. Original approval on 9/25/23 for $2702.68. Total due: $2911.97.

7. Approve $3,800.00 to Core & Main for emergency fire hydrant to keep in stock.

8. Approve Capitalization Policy Resolution.

9. Approve $1,815.66 to Josh Fowler for travel reimbursement to fire dept. hybrid training.

APPROVE CONSENT AGENDA:

Alderman Amundson made a motion, seconded by Alderman Joos to approve the Consent Agenda in its entirety. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Alderman Amundson, Joos, Neuhaus, and Babb. Alderman Neumann abstained. Nays: None. Motion passed.

NEW BUSINESS

None

CITIZENS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNTIL

None.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS PERTAINING TO THE CITY.

Alderman Neumann inquired about 1118 Wesley Road. Building Inspector Dearborn said they have blacktopped the original driving area and spread CA6 gravel down. No building permits have been applied for at this time.

ADJOURNMENT

Alderman Neuhaus made a motion, seconded by Alderman Amundson, to adjourn the regular City Council Meeting at 7:14 p.m. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.
