From festive to forest. Recycle your tree for a greener tomorrow!

Instead of sending your Christmas tree to the landfill, donate it to the Lake County Forest Preserves to be recycled into wood chips for trails and landscaping in the forest preserves.

Bring your real, undecorated tree before February 1st to one of eight marked drop-off sites any time between 6:30am and sunset daily. No yard waste or commercial drop-offs are accepted.

The closest sites to Waukegan are Greenbelt in North Chicago and  Van Patten Woods in Wadsworth.
