 City of Eureka City Council met Nov. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The Eureka City Council convened in regular session on November 20, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. Mayor Eric Lind called the meeting to order and after a moment of silence led The Pledge of Allegiance and then directed the City Clerk to call the roll. Present were Aldermen Chambliss, Hasty, Klaus, Littlejohn, Logan, Teegarden and Williams. Aldermen Wilson was absent. Also in attendance were Lynn Hinnen, Treasurer; Erik Hasselbacher, Director of Public Works; Chief Alex Collinge and Melissa Brown, City Services Coordinator.

Moved by Teegarden, second by Klaus, to approve the minutes of the November 6, 2023, regular meeting of the City Council. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Teegarden, Klaus, Chambliss, Hasty, Littlejohn, Logan, and Williams all voting Aye.

Moved by Teegarden, second by Hasty, to approve the Treasurer’s report for October. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Teegarden, Hasty, Chambliss, Klaus, Littlejohn, Logan and Williams all voting Aye.

The Mayor asked for public comments on any action to be taken on Agenda items. There were none.

Moved by Chambliss, second by Klaus, to approve and pay the bills as the City’s obligation in the amount of $76,207.82. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Chambliss, Klaus, Hasty, Littlejohn, Logan, Teegarden and Williams all voting Aye

Moved by Klaus, second by Chambliss, to approve the contract for Flock Safety Cameras. This is recommended by the Public Safety Committee. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Klaus, Chambliss, Hasty, Littlejohn, Logan, Teegarden and Williams all voting Aye

Moved by Teegarden, second by Williams, to approve the sludge removal agreement. This is recommended by the Enterprise Committee. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Teegarden, Williams Chambliss, Hasty, Klaus, Littlejohn and Logan, all voting Aye

Moved by Teegarden, second by Klaus, to accept the bids for OSLAD park improvements. Melissa explained the bids and the final low bid. The bids include the Shelter Project, Veterans Memorial Project, and Trail Project. The current bids were on budget, however, all will need to be rebid. No vote was taken.

Committee Reports:

Chairman Chambliss of the Budget Committee: No report

Chairman Chambliss of the Administration and Personnel Committee: No report Chairman Teegarden of the Enterprise Committee: No report

Chairman Williams of the Maintenance Committee: On November 27 there will be one more pass to pick up leaves.

Chairman Klaus of the Public Safety Committee: No report

Chairman Wilson of the Park and Recreation Committee: The dedication of the pickleball courts will be December 22 at 10 a.m. The pavilion has been completed and the dedication will be soon.

Chairman Teegarden of the Economic Development Committee: Due to electrical poles being replaced in town, there will be fewer snowflakes put up on the highways in Eureka. At this time there will be 18 snowflakes put up.

Chairman Mayor Lind of the Liquor Committee: No report

New Business: Saturday, November 25 is the EBA Holiday Stroll downtown. The big evergreen tree at the stoplight at Rt. 24 and 117 will be lite at 5 p.m.

December 22 at 11 a.m. will be the Christmas Lunch at City Hall for employees.

Public Comments: Walter announced that our very generous community gave a lot of food for the Eureka Food Pantry to the FFA Food Drive. Also there were over 1200 shoeboxes packed at Crosspoint Community Church this week to be sent to the needy.

There being no further business to come before the Council the meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
