Washington, D.C. – Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-16) expressed his views on President Joe Biden's recent State of the Union address, highlighting concerns and criticisms regarding the current administration's policies.

In his statement, LaHood criticized President Biden's tenure, stating, "Since taking office three years ago, President Biden has put our country on a path of decline." The Congressman specifically pointed out the repercussions of the President's open border policies, labeling them as a "disaster" that has led to crises affecting communities in Illinois.

Furthermore, LaHood emphasized the challenges faced by working families in Illinois, attributing their struggles to "radical energy policies, government overreach, and inflationary spending." He highlighted the impact of rising prices on everyday essentials such as fuel and groceries, describing them as "unbearable levels."

While acknowledging the importance of addressing threats posed by countries like China and Iran, LaHood expressed agreement with certain aspects of President Biden's agenda, particularly bipartisan initiatives aimed at supporting low-income housing and providing relief to families in Illinois.

However, the Congressman lamented the lack of substantial change in the President's approach, noting, "tonight we unfortunately heard much of the same failed rhetoric and policies that have been emblematic of Joe Biden's presidency."

As debates and discussions continue in the political landscape, LaHood's statement reflects a critical perspective on the State of the Union address and the direction of the current administration.
