City of Peoria Fair Employment Commission met March 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Call to Order/Roll Call

Staff Liaison Green, called to order the regular meeting of the Fair Employment Commission at 4:35 pm on 3.14.24.

Melodi Green, as City of Peoria-Staff Liaison, conducted a roll call. The following persons were present: Commissioners— Commissioner Solivian Dismuke; Commissioner Brittany Strickland; Commissioner Ronald Ruffin; Commissioner Udavolu. Absent Excused – Chair Carter- Allen (temporary absence); Vice Chair Carl Holloway; Commissioner Denise Moore. Quorum Established.

I. New Business:

a. PeAP Program Training: Liaison Green gave an overview of the Peoria Equity and Accountability Program. Gabe Jaja from Human Capital Development is present to train the Commission this evening. Liasion Green reported that we are attempting to build out the PeAP listing, in order to increase our utilization.

b. Gabe Jaja: performed baseline training so that Commissioners are ablet o help enroll new businesses in the program. Mr. Jaja walked through an executive level walkthrough of registration for the program including modules, and other information including contract compliance. Mr. Jaja reported that we will do an actual walkthrough training at a future session, in order to practice sample registrations. Mr. Jaja reported that he received numerous inquiries about PeAP at his place of business and he provided information about Eprismsoft which is the database that houses the PeAP and other payroll and vendor data for the city of Peoria. At the conclusion of Mr. Jaja’s presentation/training, liaison Green walked through the city of Peoria Equal Opportunity Page to demonstrate where the PeAP listing can be located.

c. Commissioner Ruffin: inquired about DBEs for the city of Peoria and Mr. Jaja explained that DBE (Disadvantaged Business Owner) is race neutral, may contain a wider range of demographics, and it was originated from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

d. Liaison Green closed with an announcement of the Equity in Procurement Expo that was to be held on March 28th, 2024 from 5-8 PM at the Peoria Civic Center.

e. Adjournment: Liaison Green calls for a motion to adjourn the March 14th, 2024 FEC meeting at 4:56 PM- Motion to Adjourn by Commissioner Dismuke, seconded by Commissioner Ruffin. All in favor- motion carries.
