This year’s state budget, passed by Democrats early Wednesday morning, includes billions of dollars allocated to new programs. However, it leaves billions in maintenance backlogs unaddressed.

Rep. Weaver commented on the fiscal situation: "Illinois isn’t struggling because we tax too little; we’re struggling because we spend too much. It’s time we start respecting our citizens, honoring the work they do, and being more responsible with how we spend their money."
