City of Chillicothe Cemetery, Parks, Recreation & Beautification Committee met May 21.

Members of the Cemetery & Parks Committee met in person on May 21, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

PUBLIC COMMENT:
None.
PURPOSE:
PRIORITY THREE PROJECT - MOFFITT PARK ELECTRICITY:
Superintendent Sutherland explained to the Committee that electricity was connected to the flag pole at Moffitt Park by Willis Electric in the amount of $3,892.04, to illuminate the flag at night. After discussion is was the consensus of the Committee to move this agenda item to Council for approval.
SHADE - CANOPY FOR CITY PARK STAGE VIEWING AREA:
Chairman T. White explained to the Committee that due to increased costs, estimates were still being obtained for the purchase of the shade canopy and concrete needed for installation. Chairman T. White will report updates at the next Cemetery & Parks Committee meeting.
RIVERSOUND PARK-DRINKING FOUNTAIN DRAIN/SWINGS:
Superintendent Sutherland reported to the Committee that a drain was reported clogged and bolts on the swings needed repair at Riversound Park, per Superintendent Sutherland those repairs have been completed.
DISCUSSION - CATHOLIC SECTION
CEMETERY:
Chairman T. White announced to the Committee that to date the Catholic Diocese has failed to locate an agreement regarding the designation of a Catholic Section of the City Cemetery. There are currently 37 lots (2 grave spaces) and 5 single grave spaces available in the Catholic Section of the cemetery. Chairman T. White offered to contact City Attorney Kevin Day to draft a proposal offering the diocese the option to purchase 20 lots to retain as Catholic only and the remaining lots would then be available to the general public. Updates will be reported at the next Cemetery & Parks Committee meeting.
