The City of Peoria experienced significant disruptions following severe storms, resulting in phone issues with non-emergency numbers and the 9-1-1 center. The disruptions affected the City of Peoria Police Department's non-emergency number (309-673-4521) and the City of Peoria Fire Department's non-emergency number (309-674-3131).

A widespread AT&T outage prevented calls from that carrier from reaching 9-1-1. However, callers using AT&T will still receive assistance. Any call that does not go through to 9-1-1 will be returned by a dispatcher using Rapid SOS, a program that allows dispatchers to see phone numbers and return calls immediately.

Residents needing to report downed trees or limbs blocking streets, alleys, or sidewalks should contact Peoria Public Works at 309-494-8800. Cleanup efforts are expected to continue over the next few days.

Several traffic signals at various intersections throughout the city were also affected by the thunderstorms, either flashing all signals or being completely out. Crews have been working diligently to restore full operations.
