Leaf collection in Waukegan will commence in the last week of October. LRS aims to follow the schedule closely, though weather conditions and leaf fall rates may necessitate daily adjustments. Residents are advised not to rake leaves into the street or place them in plastic bags, as leaf burning is prohibited.
Leaves should be raked onto the parkway in front of homes for pick-up according to the provided schedule. The new trucks feature an automated arm that extends about nine feet, so leaves should not be placed around poles, fire hydrants, or mailboxes.
LRS will try to adhere to this schedule as closely as possible, but due to weather conditions and the rate at which the leaves fall, daily adjustments may occur.
Leaves will not be collected around parked cars. Do not rake leaves into the street or put leaves in plastic bags unless they have a sticker. Leaf piles will not be collected if frozen. All leaf vac trucks are equipped with cameras and GPS tracking to verify any complaints regarding missed streets or uncollected leaf piles. Footage can confirm whether leaves were present on the parkway when the truck passed through.
