The Illinois Conservation Foundation has introduced the Illinois Outdoor Excellence Awards to acknowledge significant contributions to conservation and outdoor recreation in Illinois. This initiative includes four award categories, each focusing on different aspects of outdoor engagement and conservation efforts.
The first category, Outdoor Writer/Author of the Year, is dedicated to recognizing exceptional writing that highlights the beauty and importance of Illinois' natural landscapes and resources. The second category, Outdoor Volunteer Organization of the Year, honors organizations whose volunteer work has made a tangible impact through conservation and restoration projects across the state.
The third category, Outdoor Business/Business Owner of the Year, celebrates businesses demonstrating leadership in promoting conservation and outdoor initiatives within their communities. Lastly, the Outdoor Influencer of the Year category acknowledges digital content creators who successfully engage the public in outdoor activities and environmental stewardship via social media and online platforms.
Nominations for these awards are open to the public until October 31, 2024. Submissions can be made online.
