City of Minonk Zoning Board met Oct. 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER: The October 4, 2024, meeting of the Minonk Zoning Board was held at City Hall and called to order at 5:00 P.M. by Zoning Officer Bill Moline.

ROLL CALL: Those in attendance, Craig Meyer, Eric Aeschilman, JR Dunning and Bill Moline

JR Dunning

AGENDA:

1) Review and Consider Rezoning of 201 & 221 Locust Street, old Heritage Nursing Home buildings from R1 to R3 to allow for future business opportunities listed in the R3 Zoned District of the City Code, section 17.05.03.

Zoning Board member Craig Meyer voiced some of the same concerns those in attendance stated but reiterated that this meeting is just to make a recommendation to Council to rezone and this meeting has nothing to do with who may potentially purchase the buildings. Moline suggested/encouraged those in attendance come to the Council meeting on Monday to hear from a representative of the potential buyer and invite others they know. It was also stated that this is just the first step to getting the zoning correct and a Special Use permit would still need to be granted.

Motion made to make recommendation to the City Council to approve rezoning 201 Locust Street and 221 Locust Street to R3. Motion made by Craig Meyer, seconded by JR Dunning.

Yeas: Craig Meyer, Eric Aeschilman, JR Dunning

Nays: None

Public Comments:

A few questions about will this be a State-run facility? Concerns about residents’ safety if patients get out. Does the public have a vote in the matter? Why is it being rezoned? Concerns about building upkeep.
