FOIA Request to City Of Wenona Regarding New and Active Residential and Commercial Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent by us at Peoria Standard to the City of Wenona in Illinois. The request seeks detailed information about all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present day.
The requested data includes specific fields such as the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address, and contractor's name. In addition to this, we have also requested a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe access to public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We are hopeful that our request will be granted swiftly so that we can continue our work in informing the public about important local matters. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
