FOIA Request Sent to Marshall County Sheriff's Office Regarding 2024 Arrest Records on January 7, 2025

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office on January 7, 2025. The request, issued by the Peoria Standard, a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, seeks access to arrest records for the year 2024.

The specific information requested includes a list of all arrests from January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024. The fields requested in this list are: Arrestee Name, Arrest Date, Arrestee Gender, Arrestee Race, Arrestee's Date of Birth and Crime Committed.

As a media organization dedicated to transparency and public accountability, we at the Peoria Standard believe that access to such public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We aim to hold public institutions accountable while providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage.

In light of our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional. This practice is common among journalists and news organizations seeking access to public records for reporting purposes.

We await the response from the Marshall County Sheriff's Office regarding this request.
