City of Chillicothe Cemetery, Parks, Recreation & Beautification Committee met Feb. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Members of the Cemetery & Parks Committee met in person on February 18, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Cemetery & Parks Committee members present at the meeting in the Council Chambers: Chairman Tim White, Alderperson Bredeman, Alderperson Connor

Others in attendance in the Council Chamber: Mayor Hughes, Clerk Jill Byrnes

Others absent in the Council Chamber: Superintendent Shawn Sutherland

PUBLIC COMMENT:

None.

PURPOSE:

BUDGET REVIEW 24-25:

Superintendent Sutherland was absent from tonight's meeting.

BUDGET REVIEW 25-26:

Chairman T. White announced that all Committee requests have been submitted for the 2025-2026 budget.

DISCUSSION-ROADS FOR NEW CEMETERY:

Chairman T. White announced to the Committee that per the January 21, 2025 Committee meeting minutes they are still moving forward with the engineering study as a Priority 2 project and completion of the roads a Priority 3 project. Updates will continue to be discussed as work progresses.

DISCUSSION - BEAUTIFY CITY PARKS:

Chairman T. White informed the Committee that discussions for improvements are ongoing.

PRIORITY 2 PROJECT - CEMETERY KIOSK:

Chairman T. White and Committee discussed several options for both non-electronic and electronic kiosks available to purchase. Alderperson Connor shared her vision to include possible signage, landscaping and benches. Updates will be discussed at the next Cemetery & Parks Committee meeting.

SHADEMAKERS BUDGET REVIEW:

Alderperson Connor stated all Shademakers Committee requests have been submitted for the 2025- 2026 budget.

SHADEMAKERS UPDATE:

Alderperson Connor reported that the Shademakers Committee typically does not meet in January or February, however she did have an update of potential projects for 2025-2026 to include removing 2 trees at Eagle Landing for possible stump carving, and replacing existing cemetery wreaths with updated larger ones.

OLD BUSINESS:

Headstone Repairs - Chairman T. White reported headstone repairs will resume when seasonal workers return in the spring.
