The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is currently accepting applications for instructors for the 2024 summer fishing clinics through the department's Urban Fishing Program. These clinics, hosted in communities throughout Illinois, aim to teach people of all ages about fishing skills and ecology.

The IDNR is seeking fishing instructors who will serve as the department's representatives at these free clinics. These positions are temporary and will not exceed six months, making them ideal for teachers, retirees, students, and anyone eager to help others learn about fishing and the environment.

Various spots are available in counties such as Boone, Champaign, Jackson, Jefferson, Macon, Madison, McLean, Peoria, Rock Island, Sangamon, and St. Clair. Additionally, numerous spots are available for Chicago, Cook County, and the northeastern part of Illinois.

The deadline to apply is approaching quickly, and interested individuals can find more information about the positions, qualifications, and the application process on the IDNR website at https://bit.ly/IDNRjobs. Look for positions titled "conservation education representative."

The Illinois Urban Fishing Program was established in 1985 with the goal of teaching people to fish, providing better local fishing opportunities, and fostering a greater appreciation for natural resources.

According to Mike McClelland, the chief of fisheries for IDNR, "Fishing is a great way for families to spend time together outdoors, and our clinics give thousands of young people an opportunity to experience the fun of fishing every summer. Is there a better way to spend the summer than teaching children and adults about the joys of fishing and the importance of conservation?"

The IDNR is committed to providing these educational opportunities and is seeking passionate individuals to join their team of instructors for the 2024 summer fishing clinics.
