In 2021, the Public Arts Advisory Commission received a request from Mayor Ali to assist in accepting artwork to be displayed by Peoria- artists. After months of work, the Commission passed a policy in December 2021 to provide for the exhibit of artwork to be on display for one year in City Hall. January 2022 was the inaugural exhibit and featured six local artists displaying two-dimensional artwork. The work of nine artists is currently on display and will be up through January 2024.
Beginning on Monday, December 4, concrete pavement patching work will begin in the Twin Towers underground parking garage, 419 Fulton Street. This pavement patching work will start on Parking Level 1 (P1) at the corner of Madison Avenue and Fulton Street. Patching work will progress through all areas of the deck.

Beginning at 7 am and lasting until 4 pm on Saturday, Nov. 25, the Department of Public Works will perform street sweeping in the neighborhoods around Bradley University. Off-street parking options should be used while the one-day street sweeping is completed.
Friday, November 24, 2023, Peoria Area Community Events (P.A.C.E.) will sponsor their annual Santa Claus Parade. The parade is scheduled to begin at approximately 9:15 a.m.
The City of Peoria’s trash hauler, GFL, will not collect recycling, yard waste, or trash on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 23. This schedule change will delay service by one day for the remainder of the week.
Beginning at 7 am on Thursday, November 16, lane restrictions will go into effect on N Orange Prairie Road at W Ancient Oak Drive. These closures are necessary for sidewalk reconstruction work and are expected to last one month, weather permitting.
There are a few more weeks of yard waste collection for 2023. The week ending Friday, December 8, will be the final chance to have yard waste picked up curbside until March 2024.
Beginning at 7 am on Wednesday, November 8, lane restrictions will go into effect in the downtown area for wayfinding sign installations. These lane restrictions will vary in the downtown area and will last three weeks, weather permitting.
Beginning at 7 am and lasting until 5 pm on Friday, November 3, there will be right turn lane restrictions at the intersection of W Glen Avenue and W War Memorial Drive. These turn lane restrictions are expected to last one day, weather permitting, and are necessary for paving work.
Beginning Monday, October 30, traffic patterns on W Glen Avenue between W War Memorial Drive and N Dawn Drive will change. All traffic, both eastbound and westbound, will shift to the outside driving lanes and the current head-to-head traffic configuration will cease.

Beginning at 7 am on Tuesday, October 17, no left turns will be permitted onto N Renwood Avenue from W Glen Avenue or from N Renwood Avenue onto W Glen Avenue. N Renwood Avenue will become right in/right out only to allow traffic patterns to change as the next stage of the W Glen Avenue Reconstruction Project begins.
